Time to Peek Behind the Curtain

by Ethan Tseng

So it’s time to make the jump … maybe you’ve decided to upgrade your iPod-based music system to a high quality streaming solution. Or perhaps you are looking for ways to stream high quality movies throughout your home with a full cinematic experience, from a service like Kaleidescape. If you are like many of Stone Glidden’s customers, you not only want a great experience, but you want the solution to be aesthetically clean and visually appealing. In other words, you don’t want equipment everywhere. You don’t want unsightly wires running across rooms and hanging out of cabinets.

There is not only an art to making your system work together seamlessly, there is also artistry in the wiring and equipment display. It should not only be functional and accessible; it should look great.

For those of you who are not familiar, when you put all of the equipment together in a vertical frame its called “A Rack.” My friends, not all racks are created equal. With 35 years of audio video experience, and having built hundreds of racks, we humbly believe that the team at Stone Glidden has turned building racks into high art. Visit us anytime at our King of Prussia showroom and you will not only see racks that are crowd favorites, but you are likely to see us building a rack in our lab. Unfortunately, ours is not the standard. Time and time again we run across equipment installations that are not up to par. We believe customers are paying for an amazing entertainment experience done by complete and utter professionals. That means from system architecture to installation and cleanup. When you see your equipment rack you should be inspired.

This is NOT inspirational:

Time to Peek Behind the Curtain

It should be obvious that not all AV companies are created equal. A waterfall of wires is not what you paid for. It begs the question: how is the overall system quality? Did I get what I paid for the rest of the way? Not only does poor wire and cable management affect performance, it’s going to create service issues over time, without fail. The truth is, if the cable management is poorly implemented, chances are other aspects of the job are as well. Companies who take short cuts rarely do it only in one place. We have not built a clientele of thousands by taking short cuts. Here’s what you deserve …
